Installing The Crystal Web Report Server
The Crystal Web Report Server is a required component for Web Reporting with Seagate Crystal Reports 7.
Note | The Crystal Web Report Server is only available with Seagate Crystal Reports 7 Professional (32-bit). |
To install the Crystal Web Report Server, complete the following steps:
1 | Insert the Seagate Crystal Reports 7 CD into the appropriate drive on your Web Server system.
2 | When prompted, select Install (Win32) and follow the instructions on the screen until the following Installation dialog box appears:
3 | Accept the default installation directory shown in the text box.
4 | a) If Seagate
Crystal Reports 7 was previously installed on this system:
b) If Seagate Crystal Reports 7 was not previously installed on the system:
|
|
5 | If earlier versions of Seagate Crystal Reports are detected, a dialog box appears to inform you that this new version will replace the version that currently exists.
6 | Accept the default installation directory and click Continue. Then choose the Web Server to Configure. The only web server that should appear on the list is the web server you have installed. If you have more than one web server installed, both will appear and you can enable both servers to run the Crystal Web Report Server, but you can only have one server active at a time.
7 | Select the check box beside the appropriate web server name and click OK.
If your Web server
is currently running, you will need to manually stop it unless you are using Microsoft IIS
4.0 or higher. If you are running in Windows NT this is done within the control panel by
selecting services. Highlight your web service and click stop. Once the web server service
has stopped, the installation of Seagate Crystal Reports can continue. When installing on
Win NT the components that make up the Crystal Web Report Server will be set up by default
as NT services. The Seagate Crystal Reports install procedure does not restart your Web server automatically. To manually restart the service within NT, select Control Panel from the Start menu and then select Services. Highlight your web server and click Start. Manually stopping and starting your Web server within Windows 95 and 98 requires you use the Personal Web Manager. |
||
8 | The installation process will then continue. Follow the directions on the screen to complete the installation. |
Note | The installation of the Crystal Web Report Server forces a reboot. After installing Seagate Crystal Report Web Report Server on a machine running a Netscape Web Server you will be required to enter the Web Server’s Administration Module and "Load Configuration Files" for the Web Server. The entries that Seagate Crystal Reports makes to the configuration files for Netscape Web Servers are considered Manual Edits. The Web Server will not recognize the new extensions until the "Load Configuration Files" has been performed. Please refer to your Web Server documentation for more information on Configuration Files. |
